It’s official, Rugby World Cup 2015 taking place on home soil is the biggest in history!
Last month’s ballot received 5 million applications for tickets with a total of 950,000 sold and 23 of the 48 matches exceeding demand. The match which received the largest demand was the Pool A match between England and Australia, receiving over 650,000 applications for the 20,000 tickets that were put on general sale.
From comments on Social Media last Saturday, there appeared to be a lot of very disappointed rugby supporters who missed out and a few extremely lucky ones who got tickets for more than one match. The ballot system seemed to get a lot of criticism but surely when demand is so high, this has got to be the fairest way to allocate tickets.
However, with so many people wanting tickets, unofficial websites promising tickets at extortionate prices, are popping up all over the place. So be warned, DON’T purchase tickets from any of these – RWC 2015 have very strict Ts & Cs and will reserve the right to refuse entry to any match if the ticket(s) have not been purchased through the official channels.
