With over 10 years at Harlequins, Ugo Monye is a well established member of the squad with over 200 appearances and 83 tries for the club. The prolific winger has represented England on 13 occasions and was a tourist with the British and Irish Lions in 2009, scoring a length of the field try during the third test in Johannesburg.

VU Ltd are celebrating Ugo’s benefit year at the Nordoff Robbins 6 Nations Dinner on 15th January 2014. With over 80 international rugby legends due to be in attendance (expect many of Ugo’s uber-cool buddies we think!), you’ll be sure of a night to remember with musical guests and lots of rugby banter!  There are still a few tables remaining so do contact us to find out how to offer your support to Nordoff Robbins and Ugo Monye’s chosen charities.

Ugo popped in to the VU Clubhouse for the Autumn Internationals and here is what he had to say to our quick fire questions.

How do you like to spend time after training and rugby matches?

I got the new Play Station 4 the other week so invest a lot of time in that, along with sleeping….. I sound so dull.

If you were stranded on a desert island who would be the worst team mate past or present to be with and why?

Nick Easter….. I think being out in the open would be the only thing that would save me as he has horrible bowels.

Best city you have toured and played rugby in?

Las Vegas….. For very obvious reasons

Most memorable match you have played in?

Lions 3rd test in 2009 – I scored an intercept from 70 m winning the game.

Who do you think will win the 2014 Heineken Cup?

Harlequins, but Clermont and Toulon have a good chance too.

When you were young did you have a roll model if so who was it?

I am a big Arsenal fan so Ian Wright. Also Michael Johnson, every kid liked Beckham too.

Earliest Rugby memory?

Watching Jonoh Lomu in 1995 World Cup. Complete domination and he probably also ran over Victor in that game!

What’s is your favorite meal?

Love a Nandos! Ask any rugby player and they will say the same. Also a massive fan of Japanese food – I absolutely love “Black Cod” …..hmm, have to be careful how I pronounce that. I definitely said “Cod”!

Lamborghini Aventador

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional, who would it be?

Jack Bauer (Keifer Sutherland’s character from 24). Seems pretty cool – he gets stuff done and is like a superhero.

Worst injury?

I tore the plate off the bottom of my toe. So basically my toe was just hanging off.
