John Barnes came to our Football World Dinner at the Rosewood hotel on 5th June 2014. He was one of our guests panelists and gave us a great insight to his football career. Take a look at the picture’s from the Football Dinner .
How do you like to spend time after training and football matches?
I have 7 children from 29-7 so I always had children from a young age. So I was a playground Dad. I used to take the kids to school, pick them up go to McDonald’s. I would then come to life after 9pm!!!
If you were stranded on a desert island who would be the worst team mate past or present to be with and why?
Ian Rush – He would want you to cook, clean and rock him to sleep. Not a good roommate as you would have to do everything.
Best city you have toured and played football in?
Rio
Most memorable match you have played in?
FA Cup final 1989 – Liverpool V Everton was like a local Derby and was year of Hillsborough and we both lost many supporters at that game so was nice memorial match too.
Who do you think will win the World Cup this year?
Brazil
There are a lot of young players in our squad this year who do you think will shine during this tournament?
Non of the young ones will shine this year as they will be used as impact players. I will look forward to seeing them in a couple years time at the European Championship and World Cup. It is too soon for them this time and I wouldn’t like to put pressure on them by expecting them to play so well.
