This was a huge game that England threw away. The VU Clubhouse was buzzing with anticipation with the majority predicting an NZ win by 15-20 points. Guests enjoyed the company of Lee Mears, Jack Clifford, Martin Offiah and legendary All Black Jeff Wilson. The Twickenham atmosphere was superb and the opening sequence with Ashton scoring within a few minutes sent the crowd wild – the players could not have asked more of the support they gave. This was a proper test match and England boys will be very frustrated post match for having not seized the opportunity of a historic victory and laid down a marker for the upcoming Rugby World Cup. I still can't understand the continual early substitution of Dylan Hartley. Forget about the Sam Underhill disallowed try, I was screaming for a kick at goal when that penalty was awarded to England! I would expect Eddie to stick with the starting 23 for the remaining games and build some game time experience as the squad needs together time to gell and develop. Japan are up next Saturday at Twickenham. It's not too late to join Lee Mears and I in the VU Clubhouse and enjoy informal and relaxed quality match day hospitality with one kid U15 per Adult complimentary.
